Sonion
Roskilde, Zealand (near Copenhagen), Denmark · founded 1974
One of the two dominant global suppliers of balanced-armature transducers for hearing aids and premium IEMs (alongside U.S.-based Knowles); Sonion's BA and electrostatic drivers are inside a large share of multi-driver flagship in-ear monitors.
Sonion is a Danish supplier of advanced miniature electroacoustic and electromechanical components for hearing instruments and premium in-ear audio, founded in 1974 in Roskilde, Denmark. It designs and manufactures balanced-armature receivers/drivers, electret and MEMS microphones, electrostatic (EST) receivers, telecoils, connectors, and sensors, selling B2B to hearing-aid makers and high-end IEM/headset manufacturers rather than to consumers. Since September 2014 it has been owned by Novo Holdings A/S, the investment arm of the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The company operates facilities across Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, the USA, China, Vietnam and the Philippines.
